 Instagram 

Instagram is a social media channel that allows you to connect with people around the world and post photos and videos of events you want to remember. For example, one benefit of using social media, is being able to upload recent activities and allow your family and friends to see them. By doing this you will get likes and comments from the people who follow you or those who appear on your suggestions, which will inspire you to continue uploading more posts in order for more people to like your posts to let you know people are interested in what you are up to. 
Also, people use Instagram to gain national fame. They can do this by posting content that is trending or becomes a trend, that will make people want to access their account more. This will then allow that creator to be recommended to their audiences followers by either, appearing on their reels or getting people to shout out their account for more people to follow them, which can eventually lead up to sponsors and then becoming Instagram famous leading to being paid to post on Instagram.
A third way people use Instagram to benefit them, is to stay up to date with sports and follow journalists. For example Fabrizio Romano is the most reliable and popular sports journalist in the world, and people follow him because he has accurate data relating to Football transfers that happen as people will want to know who is going to be signed to their club, along with managers being sacked, as back in 2021 people waited on his page for him to announce the sacking of  Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Manchester United lost 4-0 to Watford. 
The 4th reason why people would use Instagram for their own benefit is to gain opinions on latest products that had been released. This is because Instagram users post videos of them explaining if the latest phone such as the iPhone 16 is any good and if it is any different to the iPhone 11, or people post game reviews so you can see what the game is like before you by it. For example, Cyber Punk was hyped by the media before release day, and when gaming content creators began playing or streaming the game for their audience people began to complain about the game being buggy and constantly crashing. However, the game is now safe to play after a couple of years of waiting now that the issues have been fixed and then recognised by content creators, meaning more people are now playing it again. 
The fifth use of Instagram that benefits others is sport channels. The reason why this benefits us as an audience is because we can see highlights of the latest matches or events that happen. For example WWE post match highlights on Instagram by showing the best parts of the events, and even allowing the wrestlers to interact on the posts too. This draws more people in as it shows that the people you follow also interacts with their audience. It is also used as a way to catch up on what we have missed.

LO6: Social Media vs Traditional Media

 Artic Monkeys and Stormzy's use of Social media  In the early 2000s Arctic Monkeys used apps such as Myspace and SoundCloud to promote their music and build a fanbase to give them enough fame to be recognised by the music industry. However, this worked out really well for the band as not only did they get really popular on Myspace and SoundCloud but have now became one of the most successful UK bands of all time. Other Artists since then have kicked off their fame from using SoundCloud such as Post Malone in 2015 released a song on SoundCloud called White Iverson which would be shared from SoundCloud by his fans and would globally go viral.   In 2014 Stormzy did a underground freestyling scene in South London for LinkUpTV who try and support underground UK rappers and get them to fame.
